Graduation Requirements

Diploma Seals

*College Preparatory Diploma:

Signifies completion of a college preparatory program specified by the State Board of Education. A minimum of 22 Carnegie units is required along with completion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test and High School Gateway requirements.


*College Preparatory Seal with Distinction:

2 additional units in core courses and/or Fine Arts with a cumulative GPA of 80 or above.

*Technical/Career-Preparatory Diploma:
Signifies completion of a Technology/Career-Preparatory Diploma as specified by the State Board of Education. A minimum of 22 Carnegie units, at least 3 technical units must be earned in a concentrated area and a fourth technical unit must be earned. Completion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test and High School Gateway requirements.

*Technical Diploma Seal with Distinction:

1 additional unit in a core course and/or the Fine Arts with a cumulative GPA of 80 or above.

*Dual (Combination) College-Preparatory and Technology/Career-Preparatory Diploma:

Satisfactory completion of the requirements for both the College-Preparatory and Technology/Career-Preparatory programs. All academic courses must be taken on a College-Preparatory level. At least 3 technical units must be earned in a concentrated area along with a fourth technical unit earned. A minimum of 22 Carnegie units is required along with completion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test and High School Gateway requirements.

*Individualized Education Diploma:
Awarded to students with disabilities assigned to a special education program who have met the state assessment requirements in Rule 160-3-1-07 Testing Programs for students completing an IE Diplomas Student Assessment or who have nor completed all of the requirements for a high school diploma but nevertheless completed their Individualized Education Programs.


*High School Certificate:

Awarded to students who do not complete all the criteria for a diploma, but who meet all the requirements for attendance and Carnegie units.
