PTSA Sponsored Events

The PRHS PTSA will be sponsoring several events this year that are very imformative, educational and fun for our students. A few of the events include: An In Memory of Walk-A-Thon,Heart Screenings, Reflections Art Contest and a "Dollar$ and $en$e Program" scheduled for March 19th at 7PM.

Dollar$ and $en$e Program

Join us on Wednesday, March 19th at 7PM, as representatives from Flagstar Bank, Bank of North Georgia and American Payroll lead an informative seminar for students. A representative from Flagstar Bank will talk to students and parents regarding credit building, credit card applications given out on college campus, checking accounts (fees, balancing, debit cards,etc) Flagstar Bank will also donate $50 to the PTSA for anyone who opens an account with the bank. A representative from Bank of North Georgia will talk about identity theft (what to look for, how to protect yourself, and if it happens to you-what to do.) A representative from American Payroll will talk to students about paystubs and how to understand their payroll information (taxes that are withheld and what it means, FICA,etc).

Heart Screening For Teens

On February 9, 2008, between 8AM and 4:00PM, the Peachtree Ridge PTSA is sponsoring "Heart Screening For Teens". This program is an echocardiogram which can detect most of the structural abnormalities of the heart that cause the majority of sudden death events in teenagers. Heart Screens For Teens will send a certified technician and for a charge of $58, (a fraction of the normal cost of a full echocardiogram, normally $900-$1,500), will perform the test. Their fee covers just the cost of the technician's time and the reading provided by a pediatric cardiologist. Walk-in appointments will be possible if times are available. A consent form is required, so an adult must be present and the age requirement is for teens between 11 and 18. Approximately a week after the scan is done, you will receive a letter from Heart Screens for Teens with the results.
