Dear Parents and Students:

I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday and break. As we begin a new calendar year and new academic term, it is a good time to reflect on our progress--both for your student and our school. I urge you to help us encourage each PRHS student to make the resolution to commit or recommit to the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside our classrooms.

As I shared earlier, this year's Junior Class had the best results in school history on the Georgia High School Writing Test: 98% passed and 26% exceeded the standard. This represents a nine percent improvement over last year and continues a five-year trend of improved performance in the Exceeds category. Most significantly, over the past five years, only three GCPS traditional high schools have ever achieved 20% or higher in this category and our performance this year represents an all-time GCPS traditional high school best. Overall, 195 PRHS juniors reached the Exceeds category and 27 earned a perfect score. Congratulations!

With our sustained focus on high level writing cluster-wide, we anticipate maintaining and improving upon this excellent performance for years to come. From my perspective, we are well-poised to break through to the next level of student success and continue building a culture of excellence at PRHS. This will ultimately be our legacy for both your student and for students throughout our cluster.

We would like to share more details of our progress with you so please join us for Open House on Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 PM. Whenever you have a moment here at school, we also invite you to visit our Wall of Excellence which highlights our academic progress toward our mission and vision. I am looking forward to an outstanding second semester at PRHS, where every day I am reminded how proud I am to be a LION. Best wishes as we begin our new term.
