*Does the graduation coach plan the graduation ceremony?
No. The duty of the grad coach is to help improve graduation rates through intervention and by providing meaningful connections between high school and post-secondary options.
*What makes a student “at-risk”?
Any student who has a barrier(s) that will possibly keep them from completing their graduation requirements.
*I don’t like talking to counselors, but I really want to get focused. Do I have to get counseling to get on track?
While Graduation Coaches in Gwinnett are indeed certified School Counselors, our roles are slightly different than that of a traditional counselor. Our focus is on the academic aspect more so than the counseling aspect. Should you feel you need counseling services, that is always optional and definitely available to you.
