The Peachtree Ridge High School STEM Program has increased 229% over the last three years by creating additional STEM entry ramps for interested students. The expanded STEM program, known as SPIRE (STEM Program for Innovation Rigor Excellence), creates STEM access for all students. Through innovative, integrated, project-based, and technology-enhanced instruction, students master content standards through an engineering lens. According to PRHS Principal, Dr. Jeff Mathews, “These graduates may become involved in STEM careers as a result of the increased collaboration and professional development within our school focused on increasing relevancy in the classroom as we prepare the next generation of leaders.”
The SPIRE program was recently awarded STEM Certification by the Georgia Department of Education. We are only the ninth high school in the state to receive this certification. On December 7, Georgia Schools Superintendent Richard Woods visited Peachtree Ridge for a celebration of the certification.
