PEACHTREE RIDGE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

The Assessment Program at Peachtree Ridge can be thought of in three distinct areas:
High Stakes Testing (which are mandatory graduation requirements)
State and District Developed Assessments (which are usually associated with course completion)
Nationally Standardized Assessments (which are associated with scholarships and post-secondary admission.

 

HIGH STAKES TESTING
 

HS GATEWAY ASSESSMENT in SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES

The High School Gateway Assessment in Science and Social Studies are document based questions that students write an essay corresponding to an AKS in a particular subject.  This assessment is specific to Gwinnett County Public Schools, but successful completion of both assessments is required for a diploma from a GCPS school. The HS Gateway is administered initially to all Sophomores in the spring, but is offered four times a year:  September, January, March/April, and June.

The next administration of the HS Gateway will be:  

Science:  Monday, March 27, 2017

Social Studies: Tuesday, March 28, 2017

There is NO NEED to register for this assessment, all PRHS students will be automatically registered if they need the retest assessment.  Any former PRHS students should call the district assessment office for plans on taking the HS Gateway, 678-301-7207.  Students who have completed their course work will NO LONGER test at their former high schools. Peachtree Ridge HS offers the ACT to any student on the following dates for the 15-16 school year:  

September 10th, 2016
October 22nd, 2016
December 10th, 2016
February 11th, 2017
April 8th, 2017 (GCPS Spring Break)
June 10th, 2017.

 

All registration for the ACT is done online through the ACT website.  Students requesting fee waivers for the ACT should check in with the counseling office to determine eligibility.You can get more information about the ACT, including registration, by clicking HERE.

 

  • AP EXAM ADMINISTRATION

AP Exam administration for the 2015-2016 school year is now complete.  Scores for the 2016 AP administration can be accessed by going to the College Board website and entering in the students AP number for this year. AP Exams for 2017 will be administered May 1 – May 12, 2017. Registration for AP Exams will begin in November for the 2017 administration.   • PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The PSAT is administered once a year nationwide.  The administration date for 2016 is Wednesday, October 19th, 2016. As it’s name implies, this is a great assessment to get a baseline of expected performance for the SAT that many students will take.  Peachtree Ridge (through a grant from the Georgia Department of Education) offers the PSAT FREE OF CHARGE to students in a 10th grade PRIDE.  Students in grades 9 and 11 may register for the PSAT at a cost of $17. Registration can be done through the MYPAYMENTSPLUS.com website.

Registration is open now through 11:59pm October 2nd. Students in grades 9 and 11 may register at a cost of $17.  Late Registration will open at midnight on the 3rd and remain open through 11:59pm on October 13th, 2016 at a cost of $25. The PSAT also offers students a detailed score report that will identify areas of strength and growth in academic areas covered on the assessment.  Additionally, the PSAT is one of the requirements for earning a NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP.  More information about the PSAT can be found by going to the College Board website, click HERE to read more about the PSAT.

LOOKING FOR SCORES FOR ASSESSMENTS?

 

The easiest way to find scores for most assessments administered at PRHS  is to go to the assessment tab in the Parent Portal.  All assessments that have been uploaded will be shown there.  If you need additional information concerning scoring, please contact the assessment office at PRHS using the contact links on this webpage.  Please note that scores for most NATIONALLY STANDARDIZED ASSESSMENTS, like ACT, SAT, PSAT, and AP will be accessed through these organizations.
